We had a WILD time!

Have you given up looking for pictures of Trevor's birthday party?!?! Well, you don't have to wait any longer! I thought I should get Trevor's birthday up before Shane's party.
With Trevor turning 2 our house is a zoo so I went along with a zoo theme. He absolutely adores animals so he loved everything about the party too. I will admit, I figured the theme for his 2nd birthday not shortly after he was born! Can you tell I LOVE birthdays. I get it from my mom but like everything I do I take it to the extreme!

Trevor sure was happy to have 13 little friends and 4 babies at his party. It was great to have so many friends and family here to celebrate our little monkey's birthday! He woke up saying Birthday birthday. Happy birthday to you Trevor! He was too excited to FINALLY get all the attention!

The Piggies and Paws for his scrapbook. I had pictures of him too but forgot to pick them up! Oh well. The party favor's are the little tags with bags full of animals bubbles, animal fruit snacks, cookies, and more!

What's a party without food. We had Wild Greens, Monkey Fruit, and other zoo food like hot dogs and nachos.

The animal feed is my favorite- Chex Muddie Buddies! Tara and Cyndi helped me polish it off after the party. YUMMY!

The kids went on a hunt by themselves while we were waiting for everyone to arrive. I love seeing kids explore and use their imaginations it was too fun.
Future wife of Trevor, maybe. Isn't she a doll??? Alyssa is just ONE of the little darlings at his party. There are too many cute little girls for me to choose from I GUESS I'll let him pick!

The birthday boy got into the cupcakes early but I guess that is his job as the birthday boy! He wanted to do his traditional Trevor with goodies which is take one bite of each cupcake, cookie, donut or whatever it may be and put it back. Aunt Tara caught him before he could do this!

Poor, poor pinata. Actually poor Mommy for picking out ANOTHER lame pinata. For Shane's birthday last year we got the pinata at Target. It was filled with newspaper and you couldn't fit anything in it! Damon had to throw the candy from a treasure chest instead. I remembered this so being the smart person that I am I didn't go to Target but ordered one from Oriental Trading and guess what?!?! It was filled with newspaper too and the paper doesn't come out! I guess this is what you get when the Chinese try to make something the Mexicans should! So the WT Young's didn't have a pinata AGAIN and Damon threw the candy from a Target bag instead! We'll see if I'm more successful with Shane's party. The kids don't really mind as long as they get candy. It would be one thing if I was saving the $20 and doing it this way but I'm not!!!

Trevor enjoying being sang too. Well actually, he was in shock with all the people singing to him. At breakfast on his pancake he kept blowing out the candles and saying again. At his party, Dad had to help him blow them out because he was in shock and dazed! Isn't that banana split cake so cool? Thanks Cyndi for helping me make it! I knew the kids wouldn't eat it but I wanted to have something fun for him to blow his candles out of instead of cupcakes!

Gabe and Shane enjoying the cupcakes.
Thanks everything for making Trevor's 2nd birthday extra special. He is still enjoying all the fun gifts and we thank you for that! It's hard to believe that my BABY is 2! His life has really been a blur to me. I can hardly remember him as a baby. I do remember his ultra soft baby skin, his dinosaur screech of a cry, and the tender late night moments we'd share during his feeding time. I already don't remember his first tooth or how much he weighed at 4 months but I will never forget the first time he smiled at me and all the smiles he has given me since then. Trevor is such a sweet and tender little boy. Thanks Trevs for being a part of our family. Life would be calm, quiet, and BORING without you to LIVEN things up. I love you sweet, wild, and crazy boy.

No More Monkeys Jumping on the Couch!

Poor, poor Shane. He had a hard day after his birthday. He was jumping on the couch and hit the edge of the couch which sent him flying and then whapped his head right on the corner of the coffee table. Damon was sleeping and heard the thud upstairs! I was right there went to pick him up and soon noticed I was covered in blood within seconds! I thought I was going to spend my morning in the ER but after we washed it clean we realized there was no deep cut just a lot of blood. As Damon was cleaning his head in the sink Shane bit his arm! His poor eyes were just in fear as Damon was cleaning his head. He cried for about 45 minutes and nothing could calm him down until Damon started to tease him about his stinky breath!
We snuggled on the couch for awhile and then he slept. Once he woke up he was in the best mood and just laying on the couch so you know what I did, got out the camera! If I have a willing subject not moving I'm going to take full advantage!
You can't see the HUGE bump on his head or the full cut but this is the best I could do. He was so worried the picture might hurt! I'm not sure how I'll clean his head to get all the red blood color out without a major fight!

Once he felt better I had promised him we would go buy him a new movie to watch and he wanted Alvin and the Chipmunks. Target let us down and were all out of the DVD so he found something else in the toy isle. Funny thing is, I wanted to get him this for his birthday and this is what he picked out and he couldn't be happier! Now he has his first handheld- a Leapster.
He jumped the little rabbit in the game too soon and thought it was so funny! What a cute boy.
Shane has really missed out on a lot of cuts and scraps. He has only really bled twice in his life once he split his eye lid open and now his head. I don't think he's had scraped knees or even an elbow because he's a pretty cautious kid! I'm glad he is ok and will be happy to share his push-up ice creams with Trevor later. While we were at Target and he got his game, candy, and push-ups he just smiles and said, "I'm one spoiled kid!" I'll continue to spoil you as long as you are safe and sound!

Happy SAD Birthday Shane!

Shane has been so excited for his birthday. He went right to sleep so when he woke up it would be his birthday. When Damon came home from work and gave him a kiss Shane woke up and said, "Daddy, tomorrow when I wake up it's my birthday." Then went right back to sleep. Little did he know it WAS tomorrow and it's his birthday.

As soon as he woke up he came running down the stairs all excited then took one look around and started to cry! I had put up a birthday banner up last night but in between sobs Shane kept saying where are all the things on the wall and people. He was looking for party decorations and birthday party guests! **NOTE TO DAMON: See he does LOVE his parties and all the work I put into them! Poor disappointed birthday boy. I keep trying to explain to him that he get TWO special days but he doesn't care. I have a fun day planned for him with friends Chuck E. Cheese, toy shopping and dinner with Dad but he doesn't seem to care without the friends and birthday cake! He has talked me into getting a Nothing Bundt Cake. Well, it didn't take that much convincing! What a spoiled 4 year old but he loves that cake! After the tears I told him about the day he was born which is his favorite story. He laughed as I held him like a baby and told him how he had one eye closed like Baby Pirate Shane and said ARRR to his Doctors! He was starting to cheer up and wanted his birthday to start so I made him our traditional birthday pancakes and sang Happy Birthday.
I can't believe he is 4! Where is my little Shane he is so grown up now! Once the pancakes were over Trevor wanted ice cream and I told Shane he got to decide if we could have ice cream with breakfast and guess what he decided?!?!?
Trevor had been crying since pancakes because he wanted "Happy Birthday to you" on his food so I finally gave in. In the picture he is telling me "More Birthday MOM!!"
Happy 4th Birthday Shaners!

You say it's your birthday!

It's my birthday too yeah! Well not really but birthdays don't come around without that Beatles song in the Stewart house. It so reminds me of Lanae and all the crazy times together. I have this crazy and fun younger sister, Lanae, and it's her birthday today so I wanted to give a SHOUT OUT to her! Happy Birthday Lanae!!!! I was looking through some old pictures and saw some classics of Lanae and have been waiting for the day to share them on my blog. She has always made things so fun and we were always doing something silly growing up. I don't know how many times she has made me laugh so hard milk or whatever I was drinking came out of my nose, the time we ate spaghetti with no fork in HIGH SCHOOL because she thought it would be more fun, the many batches of indoor smores or all the late nights in college. She is one of my best friends and I miss laughing so hard I almost pee my pants with her because she is so far away. She is the coolest. A few weeks ago she had an 80's slumber party with her friends. How fun it that?! Now brace yourself because some of these pictures are scary! Oh yeah. Looking HOT! We are at our annual camping trip to Refugio. We found some of my mom's old school sun glasses in the car and thought they were so UGLY and crazy. Little did we know they would come back in style. That cool tape player is mine too. We made tape mixes and listened to them while laying out at the beach!

I'm sure my mom loved this Easter picture of her DARLING girls. Tara must have been away at college. I'm not sure if Lanae wore that hat to church or not!

Our streets would floor a lot growing up so yes we are in High School playing in the rain and having a great time. The best part is we relived this memory with Shane and Sadie last summer in Texas. It rained almost the whole time I was there so one day we went out in our clothes and played in it. Great memories. The kids thought we had gone crazy letting them do this but I guess we haven't grown up yet because it was sure fun!

We are on VAY-K here and we thought we were so funny to take this picture. We wanted people to think we were naked but had our swim suits on. LAME.
Oh my, this is the scariest one! My mom wanted a picture of us at prom. I promise we each had a date!!! As you can see we weren't too thrilled about taking these pictures. I was laughing because Lanae has carnations with blue tips on her corsage and she was pissed! I don't remember who she even went with but I remember thinking I'm glad I could tell Damon what to buy me so he wouldn't mess up!

Lanae was the best college room mate too! We had many late nights and so much fun. Once we thought it would be fun to put Dawn dish soap into the dishwasher to see what kind of mess it would make. If you haven't done this before it makes a HUGE mess. We did not capture the mess in the picture!

Thanks for all the fun memories Lanae. I love you and enjoy the LAST year of your twenties!

Sleeping Beauties

I come home from school today to find a quiet house with no little boys screaming "Mooooom!Mommy's home!" I go upstairs to find this...
I guess they had driven Daddy over the edge and he told them they better go upstairs and go to sleep. Guess what, they listened!?! Damon said Trevor looked at him with a pout and then said, "Ok Daddy." They looked so sweet sleeping on the couch together I just wanted to kiss them. At first I resisted the picture taking. After I helped Damon clean the garage (yes, it looks nice with a car even parked in it!) I went and took a few shots. Don't they look so sweet? Well, it didn't last long. Soon enough they woke up and were back to the screaming and fighting matches!
I don't think Trevor has ever really just fallen asleep somewhere besides a bed before. A few weeks ago Shane was "baby sitting" him and he got him to fall asleep on our bed. Just to clarify Shane like to take Trevor upstairs and play with him while I stay downstairs. He loves to play and take care of him and tells me he is baby sitting him and sometimes he's lucky enough to get a dollar. It's too cute!

Don't you just want to kiss those sweet lips? He is such a cutie! He loves to read books and when I'm done he says I love you mom. It just melts my heart. His favorite books right now are the No, David! books by David Shannon. He gets them and says No David and likes to read them as I read them aloud.

Move over OFFICER Young...

and make way for DETECTIVE Young!
Today was Damon's first day as a detective. He was promoted to a detective in the Violent Crimes Unit and we are so proud of him. He was been with Metro for 4 years and has done a lot in his short career. Shane was born when Damon was going through the Police Academy. It is weird to think how much has changed since then in our family and in his career. Gone are the days of black and whites and being the new guy on patrol. He traded in his white take home car yesterday and there is no more getting robbed as part of his civic duties.

Shane is not a new baby and we have added Trevor to our family too! Look how big Shane is now in this picture! We have crazy little Trevor but I'm not sharing his WT picture with snot dripping down his face, sweats and a watermelon stained face and shirt. You'll just have to picture that image in your head! We have been so blessed with our beautiful boys and Damon's safety at work minus a broken knee, hurt back and some major scrapes and bruises occasionally!

The only thing I'm not looking forward to: GRAVEYARD shift! YIKES. I have to get all ready tonight with my things laid out if I want to shower in the boys bathroom and be super quiet all day. Damon starts work at 8 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m.! It will be an adjustment for us all but completely worth it. Thanks Damon for all your hard work in supporting our family. We are so proud of you!

Yeahooo!!

I am FINALLY doing it! I started and am actually keeping with it and I'm shocking myself too! Yes, I am dieting well I started Weight Watchers in the middle of Feb. and today I hit my first goal, I have lost 20.6 pounds!! I have always struggled with weight and I'm so happy I'm going strong. I wasn't going to ever write about it on my blog but I have not been doing as good the last few weeks so I am trying a new motivation. Each Friday is weigh in and I'm going to let you know each week whether it's good or bad what the results are. I think this will help me so I won't embarrass myself with bad habits! It has actually been fun because a couple of my friends are doing it with me so it's great to have the support. Any one else want to join in on the fun, let me know! If you have any pointers or know of some yummy things for a few points SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!

It's not fair!

I know life isn't fair but here I sit sick in a quiet house. I would normally welcome a quiet house with Trevor sleeping and Damon taking Shane somewhere to give me a rest, but not today. I'm missing out on too much. I missed out on the Fire Station tour yesterday that has been in the works for months and now I'm missing out on a BBQ with friends, my friends! Oh well, I should get back to some rest and enjoy this quiet time. Maren has promised to give Damon my FAVORITE fruit salad that she makes so I can't wait for them to get back!

**INSIDER TIP: Next time you are sick and you have a CVS near by go to the Minute Clinic inside CVS. It's the best thing ever. They took my insurance so it was just my $15 co-pay and I saw a physician's assistant found out I had bronchitis filled my prescriptions and was done in 30 minutes! Life couldn't be better for a sick person at the Minute Clinic!!

LOOK what Daddy taught me!

I come home from teaching OTHER people's kids today to see my kitchen table full of paper, crayons, and pencils, with Shane's name written all over them. YES, Shane has finally learned to write his name much to my sadness by his father! I don't know how many hours I have worked with him. How much time his teacher, Ms. Dalores, has worked with him either. Shane never seems to listen to me and always HATED trying to learn his name. We have number books he loves to sit and work in and letter books we do together but he never wants to just try to write his name on paper!

Last night I mention to Damon that Shane needs to learn how to write his name, he's just not getting it and, poof he does it. I am excited that he learned it but I'm the mom and teacher shouldn't he have learned it from me?!!? Some things I guess need the firm hand of Daddy and it looks like Shane has already learned how to work the "Mommy System." However, being the great Mommy that I am I had a special treat in my purse ready to go because he did learn to write his name. He loves Fun Dip and seems to find the candy cupboard at school each time he comes to visit. I'm so glad I raided the candy before I left today!

The teacher in me sees how Daddy taught him the wrong way to write being all upper case and then some of the letters a little wrong but hey he did it in 45 minutes better then I could do! I do have to say he does have some better writing skills then a few kids in my THIRD GRADE class too. Good job Shaners! I'm so proud of you.

**Don't worry folks. I will break out the scrapbook paper and markers for him to write on later. I will take the pictures of him writing and FINALLY get to use the layout I have had saved since he was I'm sure one. I even have saved some matching paper too because I was sure it would be discontinued by the time he would write his name. These are the things I love. I know I sometimes go into the crazy zone but who cares I have fun while doing it!

A sad first

Yep, Trevor got his first skinned knee. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if Shane has ever cut his knee before either. I'm still on the first pack of band aids I bought when Shane was little! Weird to think I know but Trevor sure is using them up. We were at a yummy dinner at Bajio's with the Frye's while the Dads were at the Priesthood Session of Conference (well, not our Daddy because he was at work) and Trevor was trying so hard to be like all the big kids and run around but he fell in the rocks. He got up cried and kept hitting his arms down saying no, no, no like it was the end of the world. After I held him for 2.5 seconds just long enough for him to get his bean burrito face wiped all over my shoulder he was off running around again and was fine. Until...
we got home. He just kept crying and looking at his poor knee and saying "No, Mom. Hurt." Can we all say together, dramatic! Isn't he a typical boy trying to milk his injury for all it's worth and more! I guess he gets it from his Dad who earlier this week "passed out" while sick in the bathroom. For some reason I feel no sympathy for the man when he throws up. After having 2 kids and throwing up 5,000 times between the 2 pregnancies. I remember one time as I walk out of the bathroom green as can be wiping my face and Damon says what is for dinner?!?!? You can only imagine my response to that questions. To this day I can't help but laugh a little when HE gets to throw up and yes I know I'm mean but I truly can't help it!
So here is poor Trevor so upset about his little knee.
The drama of a 2 year old!
I had to give myself a break and look at some pictures of my kids. I'm almost done with the pictures and so if you haven't gotten an e-mail from me it's because you are last and I'm sorry but I knew you'd understand!!! I will soon be able to update my blog of all the fun things we have been doing and Trevor's birthday I'm hoping sometime BEFORE Shane's birthday. It sure has been a busy few weeks!
