Memorial Day Fun

It is important to Damon and I to teach our boys about our country and why we are so lucky to be Americans. We decided to head out to Boulder City to go to the Veterans Cemetery and pay tribute to the heroes of our country.

I loved seeing all the flag and going from statue to statue teaching Shane and Trevor about the sacrifices these men and women have done for us.

We told them how Cowboy Grandpa and my Grandpas fought in WW II.

Once we were done we were hot and decided do Shane's favorite thing to do in Boulder City... GET ICE CREAM! For some reason he always want to go to Boulder City for ice cream and he loved this day to finally get some of that ice cream!

I loved seeing all the flags all in a row.

Once we got home naps were taken and then off to a neighborhood BBQ of the BEST ribs ever with great friends. We had a firework show in our little community which was really quite good but we missed a lot of the fun games because us adults were too busy eating our BBQ!

These 2 were walking around pushing a stroller and they looked like My Two Dads. Sorry, but you can't do that without making people think!

Trevor liked the one and only game we played.I love spending the day together as a family and having a good time. I enjoy teaching my boys and I hope am teaching them to respect our country by not taking advantage of where we live. I love being able to walk over to our friends for dinner and then over to watch the fireworks. Life is good.

Cousins!

We had a full house this week-end and couldn't have had more fun! We have missed having Josh and Kris come visit with their two little darlings, Gavin and Lyla. I love watching all these crazy cousins play together! They have a blast running around playing and just being together.

Our poor Ventura cousins aren't use to this Vegas heat so we cooled off on ever so fun Slip N Slide! The kids loved it! Us moms cracked up watching our little monkeys running and NEVER sliding!

That is until Uncle Josh decided to cool off and teach these kids how it's done!! It was hilarious seeing a grown man over 6 feet 4 inches tall slide on down! As you can see from Trevor and Lyla in the background they loved watching him!
Yummy ice cream cones are always needed after playing in the water. I don't know why but for some reason ice cream always tastes better in a suit and wrapped up in a towel! However, I could eat these kids up instead of ice cream! Aren't they the cutest EVER!?!
We enjoyed a stop at Bass Pro Shops to practice our shooting skills.

And to see the beautiful fish being fed. They all loved the sharks!

Us parents actually got to enjoy a night out together. Our wonderful baby sitter came at the very last minute and we were able to enjoy La Reve at the Wynn. It was amazing and so fun to go out as couples again. I really can't remember the last time all 4 of us went out! Besides dinner, a show, we enjoyed winning $140 between the couples! It was a great night and the kids had a blast eating chips, popcorn, M&M, and pizza with the baby sitter and playing together!
As always the trip was too short. The little buddies had fun together playing around and I enjoyed having a cute little 2 year old girl running around my house! We already miss our fun cousins but soon enough summer will be here and we'll be off to Ventura to visit and play at the beach.

A Police Officer and a Fire Fighter

Shane and Trevor are best of buds. I never realized how much fun two brother can have together! Shane is always the boss and Trevor follows him around like a little shadow. Some days they can play together for hours with not one little fight. On this particular day they played dress up. Trevor putting out fires and Shane fighting crime. Shane already says he is going to be a police officer like Daddy and Trevor who knows he may be another type of public servant. Ever since our friends and neighbors, Eric and Nikki, put a fireman shirt on Trevor he has loved being a fireman!

Maybe someone needs to clue my boys in on how to fight fires and crimes because they served me lunch instead! Maybe Trevor does have this fireman thing down because my "lunch" was quite tasty catchup and all!

T-Ball Time

We have been spending endless evenings and week-ends on the field and loving every second of it! Shane has been asking to play T-Ball for over a year now and the time has come and gone! The season is over and it's amazing how much better my little guy got over the last few months! As always, Shane is proud of his moves and skills while playing. He is in his element during each game and is pure smiles!Hittin' a home run! Look at that swing!

When he first started it took him awhile to remember to run. He would just stand and look at how far the ball flew! Now being quite the pro that he is he runs and runs FAST!

My favorite part, when he jumps onto base!

Outfield can be a little slow sometimes but when a ball does come there are usually 3-4 boys trying to case after the ball.

I love watching Shane concentrate while playing the game. Most times he is ready to catch that ball!
Lucky number 7.

We had a great team full of cute little guys.

The season went way too fast and trophies were given.
Look at the pure joy on Shane's face! He could not believe he got a real trophy. Smiles were constant the rest of the day. If you came to our house within the last few days the trophy was shown to you with honor by Shane because he is still proud! All the sweet little guys just stood around in awe over their trophies. I love how they just stood around looking at each other's trophies. Too fun!
First season complete and by the look of joy on this 5 year old's face I'm sure there will be many more to come! Great job Shanners we are so proud of you.

Highlights from the first season of Tball
  • Not being able to find 2nd base during his first game.
  • Playing give me 5 on base with 2nd baseman and not running in!
  • Catching the ball thrown to you and getting someone out all in just a few seconds.
  • Not having cleats for the beginning of one game.
  • Winning EVERY game! We all win in Tball.
  • Yummy snacks.
  • Having family there to cheer you on during each game!

Two Little Darlings

I was lucky enough to take pictures of two of my favorite little girls. They are so much fun to take pictures of! We do sessions twice a year and I love seeing them grow and watch their little personalities change. Two girls. The exact opposite of my children. I loved their outfits and seeing sisters play together.

Little Miss was so happy the entire time! This picture is my absolute favorite. Look at her squeal with delight! I would be happy too if I had those cute red shoes!

I'm loving the location which I admit was a last minute change. I'm now on a quest to find outfits for my boys so I can go take their pictures. Thanks Kerry for sharing your darling little girls with me. I always have fun spending an afternoon with them.

Savings Madness!

I'm giving myself a huge pat on the back today. I started using a free online coupon savings site and it is wonderful! They just extended to California so check out www.grocerysmarts.com All my food today was only $37.42 and I SAVED over $91!!! Cereal for only 50 cents a box and free lunch meat... I'm one happy girl! Besides the savings on food I now have 40 cents off each gallon of gas at my next fill up! I would have even saved more but my two little helpers each earned a package of gum. Damon is proud and I'm happy to have more money in my pocket. I'm loving this!

Please don't laugh at me but I have a new item for sale. Last year I bought a new desk. I love it. It's beautiful and ALMOST all of it worked out perfectly! This piece was suppose to go on top of one section but I didn't measure correctly! It's been sitting in my room for a year. I can't part with it until now... for sale for $50.

Life on the Beat

A few weeks ago was take your child to work day so I packed the boys up in the car and we went to go see Daddy at work! Once the boys are older they will be able to go to work with Damon on this day and even go on calls! Super fun. We had never seen Daddy's office and the boys loved it. Damon took us around showing us off and Trevor and Shane loved the offerings of candy at each stop! The cubical was full of family pictures, Guatemalan art, and police stuff. The cases were stacked on his desk but I must say it's a clean desk. Future Detective in training. The boys already play police and have a little more advanced police officer rolls while playing. I will hear them say, "Get your hands out of your pockets." "Show me your hands!" "Get on the ground" And then the hand cuffs come out. I think most kids their ages just run around saying freeze!

Shane is so polite when he meets adults. He knows to shake hands and then say nice to meet you. It cracks me up!
Once we were finished with the tour we went out to lunch at Metro Pizza. We had fun with the other Detectives and their children having lunch and talking cop. The best part, lunch at half price because we were with men with badges!

missing them

A week without my two side kicks went by too fast but I sure am missing them. Quiet is nice but sometimes it turns into boring. All week I wondered what I use to do before kids! They bring life into my life! We laugh, we play, we love and I am missing that.

Shane can always talk me into stopping for lunch. Since he was a baby and would scream french fry I seem to stop and get him a bite.

I'm missing my lunch date buddy. Trevor is always with me and keeps lunch dates lively. Instead I had quiet conversation this week which was an oddly relaxing lunch!

Bubble tubs are given daily or almost daily or whenever depending on my energy level. Trevor loves his time getting clean and as you can see is never bored while getting clean.
I love how they ask for a treat and then I don't feel so guilty stopping to get a Diet Coke. Don't you just love how Trevor eats a donut? He puts it through his finger and bites all around. Pretty smart I must say.

It is time to go pick up our little buys. They had a blast without us but I'm sure they missed us some times. We'll be back to our crazy life again soon and then I will wonder why I ever got bored in my quiet house.
