Nursery Boy!

Trevor thoroughly enjoyed his first day of nursery today. Where did my baby go!?! He is Mr. Independent so he did not even care I was in there taking pictures nor did he care when I left! I so deserve this after dealing with Shane in nursery who still cries EVERY Sunday.

Don't mind the ugly pictures. I was so excited to get pictures of Trevor in nursery I forgot to check my settings on my camera!
I wanted a new outfit for nursery because you always need an excuse for new clothes but after trying Gap and Old Navy with no luck I gave up or should I say ran out of time. No church next week because of Conference so I'll make sure to have him a new out fit next time!
He did look handsome in his big boy shirt, pants, and shoes.

Trevor playing cho cho with Connor and Baby Tara who isn't really a baby anymore either. Oh, sorry Mitzi I guess your foot was in the picture but your toes sure do look nice!!!

When Damon went in to get Trevor he didn't want to leave. I hope he keeps up this good attitude. We have so many babies in our ward that we have 2 nurseries broken up with the big and little kids so Shane and Trevor aren't in the same nursery but Trevor didn't seem to mind! Thanks little Bings for being such a good boy! We sure do love our sweet Trevor! I just wish he would stop growing.

Can I add a few hours?

I am about to go CRAZY! I would like to add a few hours to my days. Is there any way to do this?!?! I can't really cut out anymore sleep or I would be a zombie so the next thing is to add a few hours. I have done it again. Over booked myself. Damon warned me that I didn't need to do as many Piggies Parties but I have this little problem, I can't say know. Well, the last few days I have learned to say no and it's rather quite nice but that doesn't help the problem I have for the next few weeks. It all started last week with Enrichment Night...
This night has been in the works for a year, YES a year. We love what we do and always seem to have more ideas than time! We had a great turn our of 37 women which is great for our tiny ward. Everyone donated school supplies to Brite Blue which is Damon and some missions friend's new Non-Profit organization. Everyone was so kind in their donations, thank you! We offered classes and the tardy bell rang at 6:30 so EVERYONE was on time!

Here are the lunch ladies: Maren, ME , and Mitzi. I am so lucky to have Maren on my committee, she is our wonderful cook. If she is ever released I am gone, she makes us look so good. I forgot to take pictures because I was so excited to serve the food. After dinner we went to Seminary and learned about bringing scripture study in the home. Then everyone got a class schedule and went to History (keeping a personal history), Health (keeping our lives balanced) and Arts and Crafts (we made the CUTEST journals so people can utilize what they learned in the History class). It was a fun night. Thanks everyone for ALL of your help! I'm sad I didn't make more pictures though.

Ok, back to my crazy life and adding hours here has been my last few weeks...

Wednesday, Sept. 19 I worked at school all day and then Julie came over so we could design our journals for Enrichment and cut everything out.

Thursday, Sept. 20 I had a Piggies Party at 9:30 which means I left the house at 8:30 did the party. Julie came and got my boys so Damon could go to work at 12:30. I was meeting Julie after she dropped Gabe and Shane off at Pre-school at the scrapbook store so we could do a project on Friday. On my way there a semi had flipped over carrying pigs, yes lives pigs were all over the freeway it was too funny! I picked up the boys from Pre-school, went home, got dressed for Enrichment, got to Enrichment, had fun, got home at 9:30!

Friday, Sept. 21 I wanted to do nothing but my house was a mess and we had no clothes so I had to do that. I went to get our new pets (you'll see a post about them later), went to ANOTHER scrapbook store because I wanted some DIFFERENT paper for our project tonight. Stopped at the grocery store to buy food for our new pets. Julie and 4 or her kids brought us dinner and we had a fun night of craziness! Nicole (my job share partner) came over too to make the cutest Birthday books for our kids (thanks Donna for letting us copy). The kids had BEYOND so much fun and we stayed up until 1:30! Sadly I took no pictures.

Saturday, Sept. 22 Donna had a Piggies Party and cranky Shane (I wonder why he was cranky, could it be a lack of sleep) cried the entire time instead of playing with friends. Damon came got him. The party went long so I had to go home so Damon could go to work I got the boys and went back to Donna's to print her kids. I hurried home for a private printing and they were already at my house!

Do you get the picture, I'm going crazy. Oh and each night I have been working on prints too. Then this week started all over again worked Mon and Tues. had a party Tuesday night after school, had a party this morning, a dentist appointment this afternoon that I thought I was going to DIE at because it hurt so bad, Trevor has a Dr. appointment tomorrow, and regretfully I just looked at my calendar and I have another Piggies Party on Friday! I was suppose to finish up our scrapbook projects all day with Julie. Don't worry Julie we will still do it. :) Next week will be better because I ONLY have 2 parties and then a break until the end of Oct. Another good thing, I said NO to 3 people today! Yeah for me I learned a new word. Can you tell I don't want to do my work by this long entry???

Give me....

I was taking a picture of Trevor and Shane wasn't too happy about him getting all the attention so we played a little game my sister's and I use to play with our mom's camera. The photographer says an emotion and the model show that emotion. Shane's expressions were so funny. I guess I found a new way to get him to look at the camera. I just have to say, "Show me happiness!" Here he is, Show me anger....

Show me happiness...

Show me sadness (I think his frown/smile is too funny)...

AND, the whole reason I had my camera out was to get this picture...

My sweet tooth little baby! My friends Mitzi and Maren made the yummiest (and cute) caramel apples for Enrichment Last week and Trevor stole one. As you can tell he completely LOVED it!

Last Moments of Summer

We have been hoping for cooler weather and it is here! Trevor loves to be outside and is so happy it is cool enough to go outside any time he wants not just early morning or afternoon! Trevor's other favorite is Popsicles! He runs to the freezer and says "pop pop" and wait for someone to get him one. Many times Shane is the giver of the Popsicles.

The only problem with the cool weather is it is getter too cool too fast. Before we know it we will be COLD! I long for the PERFECT weather of Ventura!

I love Trevor's hair blowing in the wind. It's time for another cut soon, it's getting too long in the back.
I love these little piggies. I love summer time with bare feet but they will soon be covered with socks and shoes. I guess I better start my quest of finding shoes for these chubby little feet!

Enjoy your last few moments of summer because now it is happy fall!! By the way coming soon to a blog near you the CUTEST fall outfits sported by the CUTEST little brothers. I may save them for Christmas cards but can I just say Gap has done it again! I can't wait until our next photo shoot. Happy day!

In Loving Memory of Sherman the Wormman

May he rest in peace. We have one sad three year old in our house this morning. Shane woke up to find Sherman the Wormman died. Yesterday Damon found this bright green little worm and Shane was so excited to have the REAL Sherman the Wormman in HIS house! If you watch the Backyardigans you may remember this episode. He kept asking why is Sherman the Wormman at my house?!?! This is a real breakthrough because Shane usually runs at the sign of anything creepy and crawly.

After having Sherman the Wormman crawl all around Shane finally let me put him in a home of a canning jar. I'm sure this is the first of many bugs in a jar with 2 little boys.

If Shane really likes something he likes me to take pictures of them. So we had to do a little photo shoot with our new pal.

All day Shane took Sherman the Wormman with him where ever he went! After our photo shoot, Shane said, "I think Sherman the Wormman wants to watch me do PBSkids.ork (he says ork instead of org, and going on his website "to work" is his new obsession)." After Sherman watched Shane play on the Internet he told me Sherman the Wormman wanted to take a "yiddle rest" so they layed in my bed while I was doing Piggies and Paws and watched The Polar Express (we are already getting excited about Christmas). Shane continued to take his little green pal with him where ever he went and would talk to him and ask him questions. Sadly, Shane woke up this morning, got Sherman the Wormman new grass and told me "I don't think Sherman the Wormman has any energy left." Poor Sherman. Thanks for bringing Shane such happiness in the short time we knew you!

Apple Recipe Time!

I think I bought too many apples! The bottom drawer of the fridge is full and I have a pile on my counter top full of apples! Today I decided to bust out the apple recipes. I am having scrapbook night at my house tonight so I thought I'd make this yummy apple dip.

Candy Apple Dip

Ingredients:

1 (8ox.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 C. brown sugar
1/4 C. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2- 2/3 C. toffee bars

Directions:
Mix together with hand mixer. Chill Serve with apple slices or assorted fruit.

Apple Crisp

5 medium apples (about 5 cups)

3/4 C. brown sugar

1/2 C. flour

1/2 C. oats

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

1/2 C. butter

Directions:

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Spread skinned and cut up apples in ungreased 8X8 pan. In medium bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut in butter, using pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Bake 35-40 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm with cream or ice cream.

Both these recipes are so yummy and easy! I love that it is now fall baking time. Oh, you can make the apple crisp a blueberry crisp with 6 cups fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) blueberries for the apples. This sounds yummy too, but blueberry season just ended! Thank you Carrie for the apple crisp recipe. I decided to add in some nutmeg for more yummy spices. The family loved it and the crisp is almost gone!

I've been tagged!

.) What I was doing ten years ago: September 1997
I was in my 2nd year of college at good old Snow College. I was so happy to have my sister, Lanae as my roommate and not the crazy people I had the year before. I'm now craving FAT STICKS from the only pizza place in town, there were so yummy!!!

2.) Five years ago: September 2002
I was starting my student teaching. Damon was working for the Porter campaign so I spent many late nights by myself working on projects for school. We lived in our little 1 bedroom apartment!

3.) One year ago: September 2006
Enjoying every second of not going back to school and taking a leave of absence. I'm sure I was starting to get stressed with my busy season with Piggies and Paws, because I know I am now!!

4.) Yesterday: September 12, 2007
We went to playgroup and picked apples. Shane is still wanting to make an apple pie, so I guess we'll be doing that tomorrow. Trevor had a crazy afternoon (want more details check my posts from yesterday) and after the boys went to bed I sad and did NOTHING!!!

5.) 5 snacks I enjoy:
Swedish fish, anything chocolate, Special K Treats, Popsicles on a hot day with the boys, and popcorn.

6.) 5 Things I would do if I suddenly had $100 million:
Buy a house on the beach, go on a trip for MONTHS (I'd bring the boys and hire a nanny to help) Damon and I would take an early retirement, accomplish my dream of opening a baby boutique, and yes, go shopping!!!

7.) 5 locations I would like to run away to:
Belize, Costa Rica, Ventura, the mountains anywhere with green grass and trees and Arizona. Yes, I know Arizona. I was suppose to go there this week-end to a scrapbook thing but we didn't end up going and I'm sad!

8.) 5 bad habits I have:
Spending too much money, talking on the phone, eating too many yummy foods, staying up late, and going to Target when I'm bored.

9.) 5 things I like doing:
Being with all my boys, blogging, photography, scrapbooking, and shopping.

10.) 5 TV shows I like:
The Hills, Desperate Housewives, Jon and Kate Plus Eight, House, what I have been watching for as long as I can remember, Oprah.

11.) 5 things I hate doing:
Cleaning the bathroom, dishes, going to the bank, putting laundry away, and getting gas. (When I was 16 I would make my baby sister Cyndi (who was 8 at the time) put gas in the car, but now Damon does it for me.

12.) 5 Biggest joys of the moment:
Shane sleeping in his own bed or should I say couch for the last 5 nights, only having to work 2 days this week, Scrapbook Night is at my house tomorrow and I'm going to finish ONE page, having 4 boxes of Bazzil Paper to unpack (I love paper), and staying up late so I can take total advantage of my alone time!

Now im gonna tag 5 people and you better make sure you do it! LOL
1. Kellie
2. Lisa (this means you have to publish your blog now!)
3. Brittany Spears, if she can find the time away from watching her kids!
4. Oprah
5. Tara Whitney

Seriously, Lanae took ALL the people I know who blog!!

Ghetto Fabulous

You Belong in 1993
With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!
http://www.blogthings.com/whatyeardoyoubelonginquiz/">What Year Do You Belong In?

I'm glad that it's anything goes with me and I'm ghetto fabulous on some days. I did take a shower today, put on make up, but I didn't do my hair! It's all good.

Oh, and can you tell I'm not wanting to go my work today like I need to???? How many posts is this in one day, THREE! I'm really going to go up and work now...or maybe sleep!

I learned my lesson

I learned my lesson, I will NEVER clean my house again. Yes, yes, I know I WILL give in tomorrow and clean my house before I have a P&P dinner meeting at my house so maybe I won't clean while Trevor is awake for a very long time. I was just talking to my friend, Donna, today about how I don't remember Shane being as active and in to everything as Mr. Trevor is. We came to the conclusion that with the 2nd child you are more busy and are constantly watching them and their older sibling gives them the opportunity to get into more things by leaving markers out, drinks too low, or doors open. Well, I'm changing my theory after this afternoon with Trevor. In just 3 short hours...

He got a whole tube of toothpaste and stuck it up his nose...

While I was putting the 3 loads of laundry that I had done away he went downstairs got the dog food out of the laundry room, brought it into the living room and dumped it out on the floor...

I was cleaning up the dog food and hear him dump something out in the kitchen and see he went in Shane's project cupboard and dumped out a bag of 100 googlie eyes! This is all I go pictures of but the messes continue. We then went upstairs to clean and dust. After I finished cleaning Shane's room of blocks, cars, Little People, and dress up clothes I went into Trevor's room to change his sheets. While in their he went BACK to Shane's room and dumped out the blocks, cars, and Little people all over the floor. At least the dress up clothes were still put away. I went back to finish up his sheets and he went into the bathroom, got the cup I use to rinse the boys hair out for the bath and he decides to fill the cup up water from the toilet and dump it all over the floor! I have had it by now and decide he is ready for bed at 6:30. I'm putting his PJ's on and see marker marks in his nose and his ear. I know he has something with putting things up his nose and in his ears. So while I was up stairs he went downstairs at some moment and got into something else. Yes, Shane's markers left on the table. Plus he got into my wallet and dumped everything out! Peace is back in our home because he is sleeping. Peace for the next 11 hours and then Trevor will wake up again and we'll start all over again.

Apples, apples and more apples!

Today for playgroup we went to Gilcrease Farms, an apple orchard, and picked apples! We left early and made our 40 minute trek to North Las Vegas! Minus the heat we had fun. My friends and I are thinking if we decorate fall, do fall activities, and wear fall colors maybe the weather will take the hint and turn cold. It's not working so far! Shane could not believe he could pick apples off the tree all by himself. I couldn't believe we had never been to this hidden gem before. Beautiful apples growing in Vegas, CRAZY!

Shane wanted to eat the apples as soon as he picked them. He was so proud of himself! His friend, Ella, had told him a few days ago how you squish apples to make apple juice so now he thinks we will make apples juice. I opted to buy the fresh made apple cider. I may have ruined Trevor because he drank his up in about 2 minutes! I hope he will go for plan old apple juice once our cider is gone!

I NEVER get pictures of the boys together and now that I do, that shadows look so bad! I am liking the long grass and now that I am home, I may have had a vision! Check back later and see if I go back for more pictures with this cute chair I have!!

Trevor loves being outside so he was beyond happy. He said apple for the first time while we were here, so I guess it was educational too!

Trevor thought it was more fun to pick the leaves than the apples! He just stood over at the trees as happy as can be picking leaves!!

Happy Birthday Cyndi!

We hope you have a special birthday! We love you so much and am so grateful to have you in our lives. The boys have fun with cool Aunt Cyndi! Eat some cake for us.

This picture was taken last August when Trevor was just 5 months old. I love this picture.

Happy Grandparent's Day!

Happy Grandparent's Day to the worlds BEST Grandparents! We love you all and am so thankful to have 2 sets of the best Grandma and Grandpa. Our boys absolutely love their Grandmas and Grandpas. Thanks for all you do for us and our sweet boys. We wish we could be there to celebrate your special day and give hugs and kisses from Shane and Trevor. We love you!

Stewart Family Grandkids taken December 2006.
Young Family Grandkids taken August 2006, we need a new picture with Lyla now!

I'm a big kid now!

After Shane went potty I heard Trevor crying in the bathroom. He wouldn't come out and I couldn't understand why. He had climbed up onto the toilet like big brother Shane and was trying to pee. The only problem, he had his diaper on still! I guess we'll wait awhile to start potty training him.
Trevor has discovered the piano this last week. Both boys love to play along as I play a song. They think it is so fun to pound on the keys as I play. Once the boys start school they will take piano lessons and then we'll have little Mozarts running around! I'm sure it will come before we know it. I just hope Trevor will keep up the excitement he has now when he has to practice his scales!

Move over Aunt Kris...

We have a new hair dresser in the family! Look at Crazy Shane! The first time he did this was funny, 3 times later, not so funny! He loves taking "his" hair spray and doing his hair. I think he saw his friend Gabe's hair at preschool all slicked back and wanted to try it! I have now moved the hair spray into a new place where for now he can't find it!

Our Hero, Daddy

We are so proud of Damon. He got his second Life Saving Award tonight. It is a huge honor and an officer is lucky to get one award in a career and Damon has already earned two. He saved a 10 month old baby (who at the time was the same age as Trevor) from a fire. Fire nor medical had arrived due to radio failure throughout the valley. Damon took action, gave artificial respiration to the baby who stopped breathing on the way to the hospital. The medical staff said that if it were not for the action of Damon and his partner, the child would have certainly died. I don't know how he stays so calm and does his job so well. I think being a police officer is just in his blood, he was born to do this! Congrats Damon, on always doing your best and saving this sweet little baby. As always we are proud to have you protecting those that cannot protect themselves. We love you.

Damon with the under Sheriff at the awards ceremony. I'll frame the certificate and he has a pin to put on his uniform that says "Life Saving."

Trevor and Daddy. "In the arms of a father, a child first feels the strength of a hero." Thanks for being our hero Damon. The boys got to go in the police car. Shane was beyond excited! Trevor loved all the lights.

Shane thought he was going with Dad to get the bad buys. He could hardly control his excitement! He actually got to drive in the police car with Damon and he was on the look out for some bad guys! I think this being a police officer may be in Shane's blood too, we'll just have to see!

First Day of School

I can't believe it, but my baby went to preschool today! I really can't believe he is old enough to go to preschool and did fine without me! I was so worried he was going to have a melt down but Ms. Delores knew what she was doing when she had Play Dates last week for the kids to get use to everything. Shane has been asking to go do school since January. He couldn't wait for the new backpack, the new hair cut, learning how to write his name and his very favorite HOMEWORK! I don't know how he knew about all this stuff but he wasn't too disappointed today when he didn't have any homework.
Look how grown-up Shane is on his first day of preschool.
He wasn't too sure about letting me take some pictures until I told him Grandma Stewie always took pictures of me on my first day of school.
We got to school a little early he was so excited peeking in and seeing his classroom!
He wouldn't let me take a picture of him with his teacher, Ms. Delores, but I managed to get one of her showing him and his best pal, Gabe, where their cubies were.

When he got home I asked him what his favorite part of preschool was and he said music! He started singing some song about hoping! He loved going through his backpack and showing me each project he made. These are his prized possessions and I don't know how he'll ever let me get rid of anything! Awhile after he was done telling me about his day he paused and said, "Mom, how was your day at school?" Too sweet.

Park Day Celebration

We had a new park open up in good old Southern Highlands and we went to the pancake breakfast yesterday morning for the celebration. It was fun but would have been a lot more fun if it wasn't so hot! The boys cheeks were so red and I had sweat dripping in places I have never sweat in before! We left early because we thought we were about to melt away!! I am ready for it to be cold again. The good part of the heat is it makes you tired so we ALL had a nice nap when we got home!

Shane eating his breakfast and as usual is hating his picture taken. He is covering his eyes and saying, "I hate pictures!" Yes, I know his hair is too long but was cut by the end of the morning. We are all ready for the first day of pre school on Tuesday!

Trevor is still trying to master the fork. He is trying to eat his fruit but for some reason can't get anything in him mouth, maybe it's the binkie! He will be 18 months in a few short weeks so I guess he better enjoy the binkie while it lasts because it will be gone soon!

Trevor testing out the new playground equipment. By the look of his smile, I think we'll come back!

Trevor had Elmo painted on his arm and loved it. He just laughed the whole time. It was cute. As always, Shane was to "cautious" to try anything fun like this! He did get a balloon sword made which he loved.

After Shane's haircut we decided to cool off and get snow cones. They both loved them and I managed to sneak a bit here and there!

Look-alike Meter

Too funny! Everyone always tells us how perfect a combination of the two of us and Trevor looks just like me! I guess everyone is right.
